Each year I try to introduce a new item or line of items. Last year I annouced the Admiral Fitzroy Storm Globe. We have been and are still selling out at most of the shows.

Admiral Fitzroy developed the barometer concept in the late 17th century to have a better idea of what weather the ships might have before leaving port.

When I first discovered the concept I was hesitant so I ordered a sample. The globes are etched, prefilled with six chemicals and sealed to prevent leakage. The results were fantastic. There are nine different visuals that are displayed by the globe. During the winter there are small ice crystals that look like snow flakes, when it rains the crystals have long streaks, during fog the globe is milky and when the winds are blowing there are little clouds on top with other white crystals on the bottom. These are a few of the conditions. An information sheet descibing details of the different displays is included with the globe.

I create the wood stands from Padauk which is an exotic wood from Africa. The base is signed and the 4 1/4" globe is then inserted into the 8 1/2" stand. The globes are priced at $78.
